Film Analysis: Our Fault – Highly Polished Spain-Based Stepbrother Melodrama Proves Too Tame to Cause Irritation

This latest film in a popular series, coming after earlier movies named My Fault and Your Fault, has been brought to screen from the Culpable trilogy. Targeted at its core fanbase, it offers a familiar combination of emotional storytelling, love-centered plots, and luxurious settings. However, even with these intentions, the dialogue feels stilted and overused, particularly in the English subtitles.

Story Summary

First-time watchers may find themselves puzzled by the narrative, as this conclusion assumes familiarity with past installments. Nevertheless, the central dynamic involving Noah and Nick is easy to grasp: ex-partners who once shared a step-sibling connection after their families united in later life. Set against a sun-drenched Ibiza wedding, they meet again, spar, and eventually part ways—before reconcile by the ending.

In the meantime, the heroine pursues a romantic link with a kind-hearted man, as Nick handles his professional life in sharp suits. Introducing conflict, a antagonist named Michael—bearing a resemblance to Nick—attempts to disrupt their lives.

Visuals and Tone

Shot in stunning coastal Spain and the UK capital, the film boasts a polished, travel-brochure look. Significant focus is devoted to outfits, wedding details, and beautiful views. A constant musical score of electronic pop tracks in multiple languages occupies quiet moments, but the final result is more bland than captivating.

In the end, the film proves too tame to upset or actually irritate—rendering it inoffensive yet forgettable.

The movie can be streamed on Amazon Prime from 16 October.
