Female Suspect Arrested After Reported Gas Supply Tampering at Two Metropolitan Medical Facilities

One female individual has been arrested following hospital gas systems reportedly tampered with at a pair of Sydney-area healthcare centers.

Event Overview

Sutherland Hospital in the city's southern suburbs lost critical gas supplies on early Tuesday, forcing staff to transition to portable oxygen and air as part of their contingency plans, as stated by health officials.

"The cause of the loss of gases appears to be intentional interference," authorities declared.

They further emphasized that "{To allegedly do this is beyond serious. It could have been disastrous outcomes."

Investigators additionally claim that at about early morning, "the suspect entered the grounds of a second medical facility on the same street ... and allegedly switched off the primary gas supply."

The individual was apprehended in the Miranda area at about 4:00 AM on Tuesday morning for violating bail conditions, according to police.

Hospital Response

Medical authorities confirmed that medical gas supplies were restored by medical staff and local health district "within approximately two hours."

"I want to assure the public there was no impact to medical services and that the facility has returned to operating as per normal," officials stated.

They added that "Entry to gas systems in NSW public hospitals is limited to authorized personnel. We will review the incident to see what improvements can be implemented."

Officials disclosed that the woman allegedly climbed over a barrier at Sutherland hospital and gained access to a secured zone.
